Fun With Film

"SHOW PEOPLE" IN YOUR HOME

We are organizing a list of guest speakers, authors and artists to host or present at a series of fundraisers and salons for the documentary "Show People". Some salons will be more formal in the sense of scheduled topics, others more along the lines of the Algonquin Roundtable era. If you are interested in either presenting on a topic at such an event, or hosting Bijan C. Bayne's DVD discussion of the history of ethnic human exhibition in your home, institution or place of worship, please contact us at:

Advise & Consent

We are currently reviewing consultation grant proposals and applications for previously funded documentaries, with an eye toward drafting proposals of our own for federal humanities and arts endowments. We will then share these with program officers from the appropriate councils, to receive their feedback and guidance.

Work in Progress

We are planning fundraisers, meetings, and presentations related to "Show People". The presentation is adaptable to DVD, Power Point, slides/slideshow, or overhead projection. It covers the range of individuals who were exhibited to British royalty, at World's Fairs, the European stage and salons, as well as American exhibit halls, dime museums and touring shows. Others could be seen at universities, or in the city zoo.

I would also like to thank those who have contributed to Reel History, that we may undertake this project. We appreciate your interest in our work. Feel free to direct questions to us via telephone, mail, or e-mail.

Behind the Camera

I am pleased to announce that veteran cinematographer Vic Losick will be Director of Photography for "Show People". His work has been seen in PBS' "American Masters" profiles of figures such as Ella Fitzgerald and Milt Hinton, and in Clint Eastwood's "Piano Blues" (part of Martin Scorsese's exploration of the blues).
